Run the Sarsen Trail

The Neolithic Marathon and Half Marathon is a multiterrain, undulating cross-country course of moderate severity. This linear route runs from historic Avebury to world-famous Stonehenge and takes you through the stunning Vale of Pewsey to the contrasts of Salisbury Plain. Please be advised that the route may be muddy in wet weather and dusty and rutted when dry. There is an upper limit of 350 runners for each of the Marathon distances.
Closing date for registrations 19th April 2010.
Upon receipt of your registration form and entry fee you will be sent a confirmation pack including a running number, luggage label, coach pass and a detailed map of the course. PLEASE CHECK ALL THE DETAILS CAREFULLY and if there are any errors please call the Trust on 01380 725670.
The Marathon and Half Marathon are open to any runner who is 18 years of age or over on the day of the run and who has signed the declaration on the registration form. You are advised to train for the event. If in doubt about your fitness, please consult a doctor. Wiltshire Wildlife Trust is only insured and responsible for registered participants.
ON THE DAY - SUNDAY 2ND MAY 2010
Marathon: Check-in from 8.30am at the Avebury Social Centre opposite the church (Grid ref: SU100699) where you will be given a timing tag. The run will start as soon as possible after 10.30am. Please note there will be no half-way clock check.
Half Marathon: Check-in from 10.00am at Charlton Clumps (Grid ref: SU 097 547) where you will be given a timing tag. The run will start as soon as possible after 11.00
Please ensure you have your running number and coach pass.
Car Parking. The main car park is located at Stonehenge and we strongly recommend you park there. There is very limited parking at Avebury. Free transport operates between all car parks and the run start & finish points. All vehicles parked are entirely at the owners’ risk.
There are changing facilities at the start and finish but no showers. Clothing will be put in a tagged bag and transported from Avebury to Stonehenge. There are frequent water, WC and First Aid points along the route, detailed on the route map. Medal and free refreshments for all runners at the finish. Please be advised the Stonehenge site facilities start to close down at 6pm.
